Need a place to store your Minecraft goodies? But want it to aswell be Minecraft themed? Well in this post I will explain how to make your own Minecraft chest from just core foam board. The video is made by TheCraftMaiden.
Firstly cut all the sides of the Minecraft chest with an X-Acto knife from the core foam board, if you don’t know the sizes remember the chest has to be in a ratio of 1 x 1 x 2.
Secondly, stick all the sides with super glue to make a 3D rectangle. Then with an X-Acto knife cut a lid all around the chest and take it off.
Then cut two sets of two lines one on top of another, cut the lines at the back of the chest like shown in the video, one in the chest another in the lid.
Now cut two pieces of the tube that is about the same length of the hole and then cut it longways. Fit one into two holes and the other one into the other two holes like in the video.
Next, cut a piece of the core foam board as the chest lock and stick it in the front of the chest and in between the lid and the chest. Only put glue on the lid section.
Then with the pencil and ruler draw a grid all around the walls of the chest and with brown paints color different squares with different tones of brown, don’t make it too light.
Next, with black paint all the edges and the corners and with gray paint the lock. If you want you can add texture to the lock with different tones of gray.
Finally cut the black felt to fit all the inside walls of the chest and stick it in the inside walls of the chest with super glue. if you want you can varnish it to have a glossy effect.
